Over all, I liked the story line. But as was mentioned in a blog post by Jaimey Grant, about 'riding astride' a horse; in this book that is what the main female character does pretty much all the way through, and then goes her own separate way most of the time with out a chaperone, visiting others of the parish and meeting males she is not related to in very out of the way places.I wish they would have let me do the critiquing on this book, there were a few places in the book where I think the author started telling something then changed her mind, but she forgot to take out the first part. So the main male character is pulling the blankets off his friend twice in two paragraphs.

I don't usually read the Harlequin type romance novels, but this one was surprisingly entertaining. I was routing for Ness and Brett. I don't know who the people on the cover are though...or why he has a gun. A gun was mentioned in the book...but no one ever actually had one as far as I can remember.
