This is a phenomenal book for both education and entertainment of young people and adults. Ms. Lambert-Sharp accurately presents the social structure, the traditions and beliefs of the Spokan people through the telling of young Nkwala's story. Many of the mantras given to Nkwala would be very useful for everyone today; one of my favorites was from the shaman who counseled Nkwala, "When the people are angry or afraid, look you always to the little things that the people forget in their fear or their anger. For these are things that can change the day [for the better, without violence or injury, etc.] My recommendation is to buy a hard copy because this book makes a great heirloom.

More of a coming of age book. Some native spirituality.
