The charm of this book is the local factor. If you know Halifax and Gus it is lovely. The illustrations are a bit different from other children's books which is a plus in my view. Allie approved.

I grew up with Gus, always appreciating that he was the same age as my grandfather, how can I not like this? (Even if I did think it was a bit of a clunky book.)

A fun (and true!) tale about our plucky gopher tortoise in Halifax! Inspired by true events, this children's book is an amazing little story, a perfect finish to any day at the Museum of Natural History!
