BRIEF SUMMARYLibby Beckett lives a vanilla life that is routine, until she signs up for Maid for It. Using her two weeks vacation from her job, Libby takes the opportunity to be on an island with the very rich, Gavin Huntley, to experience BDSM as a sub to Gavin with a contract in place. THOUGHTSIf you’ve read the author’s first book Maid for It, then what this book entails shouldn’t be shocking with what the concept of the story is. Maid for Pleasure was a tiny bit different for me than the first book, but still likable. I liked that Libby was ok financially but felt like her life was missing something after not feeling fulfill by her last boyfriend. So her curiosity for BDSM leads her to a private island own by Gavin, a rich guy that likes to take control as master. The story is told from Libby’s point of view the moment she arrives on the island. While with Gavin, she experiences sexual awakening which at one point involves f/f and f/m/m/m interactions. Gavin was demanding and a sexy master of his island and home with psycho tendencies. Just when his actions shock you he finds a way to let that soft side shows. I love the Maid for It agency, although it’s not looking too good for the agency. However, I would love to see more stories form from it. A daring read but not as daring as the first book I think, but still holds true to the concept and I loved it.Story: FAIRLY GOODEnjoyment: GOODIntimacy: SPICY / GOODReview page for this author -

This story started off better than the first installment then quickly slid into Nopesville. The heroine is basically kidnapped and threatened with death if she tries to leave the hero. There's no emotional development, just a lot of telling so for the reader this comes off as unexplained Stockholm syndrome instead of submission. There are no scenes of brainwashing, she just agrees to insane requests because it makes her so hot. Again this would be fine if you understood why she was so effected by this man, but you never see the emotional side develop. The bulk of the sex is standard, blow jobs and intercourse, but there is two kinky sex scenes instead of one. If you're looking for more bondage and SM it's not here.

I loved the first book in the series, but I absolutely hated this one. A couple of reasons are individual: I don't enjoy f/f and I don't often like first-person narrative, unless it's done spectacularly well. But the main reason is that the dubious consent is so wrong here. I *love* dubious consent, nonconsent, rape fantasies, all of it. But here, in the context of a long term relationship, it's just so jarring, that it's the furthest thing from sexy. Gavin doesn't come off as alpha or Dom, he comes off psychotic, belonging in a Kitty Thomas or Remittance Girl book. Which can also be ok, but the book doesn't seem to acknowledge this. It's painting the relationship as bdsm, but missing out all the safe, sane & consentual bits.Sigh. I was looking forward to this one.

I may be getting blasé about so called dark erotica and capture fantasies, but this one wasn't really dark and wasn't particularly erotic in my opinion. Frankly, the story was rather silly and (for me) lacked emotional connection. I didn't feel any sense of anxiety on the part of the female lead, nor any real danger from her captor/master.The writing was okay grammatically, but the story did not have any punch. I enjoyed Maid for It much more, but this one - not so much.

Wow, I am really becoming a fan of dark erotica! It is books like this one that just draw me in. It’s not just about sex, although sex – naughty sex – is a major player. But authors like Lucy Rodgers really know how to make the story real. Maid for Pleasure has absolutely made it to my favorites list!It starts off with Libby on a plane to a private island owned by Gavin Huntley. They’ve been matched together by an online service called Maid for It. She is in her maid’s uniform, as requested. She has no luggage, everything will be provided for her during her stay. Here is the catch: Gavin is under the impression that she will be staying indefinitely. Libby knows she has a two week vacation from work and will be leaving at the end. So right away she is entering into this situation with a lie.But Gavin, oh so creative and extremely intelligent Gavin… he is on to her. He knows more than he lets on. Sure, Libby needs a change; she’s trying to fulfill a fantasy. But Gavin wants a real sub because he is a real Dom. And within ten seconds of meeting her face to face, he makes her call him Master. He just commands respect in a way that makes you want to give it to him. I’m willing to bet nearly every woman reading this book is ready to call him Master! “Consent is King”Oh yes, consent is king in the D/s world. There are safe words and dropping the scarf, and all sorts of precautions to keep the sub from doing something he or she doesn’t want to do. But is that really a proper D/s relationship? If you always have your “get out of jail free” card, are you really giving it your everything, are you really submitting or just playing a role? Gavin knows this. He knows that if you truly can change your mind at any moment then you aren’t really giving yourself to him completely. I really loved this story. I loved how Gavin was so strong and yet so caring. I loved how hard he pushed Libby to her very limits, and then a bit more. The sex scenes in this story were hot hot hot. They were fabulous, really. If you are into dark erotica or even just erotica, there is a little something for almost everybody. Of course, I’m sure no one is really revealing the big twists in this story. The twists that will make your jaw drop. The twists that will make you fearful, have you repeating “no no no no no no!!” just like I was at the parts you’d never think you’d be saying that to. The twists that make you think, “yep, that’s perfect.”This story, albeit short, really packed a punch. It will leave you reeling, and then it will kiss the wounds and make them better. This story is the Dom and you are the sub. You find yourself submitting to Gavin and he is a fictional character…isn’t he? I can say without a doubt that this is one of those stories that I will be rereading from time to time. It has exciting moments, fearful in its clutches moments, tender moments, and of course, heated moments. I think the characters are dynamic and enigmatic. I think that Libby didn’t realize what she was getting herself into, but that she got exactly what she needed. This story will definitely take you on a ride you won’t forget.

This review was originally posted on my blog, Darkest Sins."Maid For Pleasure" is a dark erotica book where the DARK is very strong and I couldn't have been more fascinated by it. No, I'm not shocked because when I accept this kind of books to review, I'm always well aware of what I'm going to find myself in and, blushing or not (I dare anyone telling me they don't), when you find an author like Lucy Rodgers, who writes delightfully, I can't help getting lost in pleasure during all the reading. The story caught my attention from the beginning with that beautiful island, a real piece of Paradise where I would happily live forever... Then of course there's the relationship between Libby and Gavin, but it would be wrong to think about that just like domination and sex. There is trust and love, as well, and Gavin can be really charming as much as quite scary... At some point something unthinkable (or at least nothing I have never read before) happens that left me like "I can't possibly understand something like that... Ok, then why am I so intrigued by it?". And that's exactly what this story is, psychologically intriguing. If you're not used to this genre or you're not comfortable in reading BDSM at all, then you will surely have trouble with this story. But if you are passionate about real dark erotica, then pick this book up today and enjoy every minute of pleasure!

Also on: RoseHartBlogPublished: May 14th, 2012Tags: Dark Erotica, BDSM, M/sRecommended to: Fans of Master/ slave, BDSM reads. Newbies to reading about the M/s dynamics may not get it. As a Dark Erotica, I’d say it isn’t as dark as say Skye Warren and Kitty Thomas, but the “This is so wrong – so right” reaction is there whilst reading. Content warning: Master/ slave, bondage, alpha male, spanking, caning, kidnapping/ captivity, collaring, anal, oral, f/f, m/f, menage, orgiesReviewed: June 20th, 2012Summary: A short hot read documenting Libby’s experience as a newbie slave to a fierce Master. The sex scenes were hot, the plot exciting, the characters intriguing and the ending fab!My thoughts: Successful Libby works in insurance and earns a pretty penny, in fact, she has everything one would hope to have, including a well-rounded boyfriend.Unfortunately she’s unable to divulge her fantasies to him and so after calling it off, she seeks fulfilment by joining Maid For It, an online dating agency specifically for those in the BDSM lifestyle. It’s not long before Libby is matched with Gavin, a very wealthy entrepreneur living on his own island. After talking online for a while, it’s decided she be flown over. Nothing can go wrong, can it? Maid For It require men to pay a large bond as an assurance that the women in the arrangements won’t be harmed. So this reassures Libby and off she goes with the intention of only staying for two weeks before saying her ‘safe word’, which, declared in the contract, means their time is over and Gavin is to release her.Is two weeks long enough for Libby to show her submissive side and surrender herself completely? Will there be enough time for Libby to explore all the things she’s fantasied about? Will Gavin actually allow her to leave once he finds out her intentions?Written from Libby’s POV, this saucy novella has a constant air of danger and anticipation, which for me was the driving force behind the fast pace. From the moment you read about her in the airport, you know this may, perhaps, be such a careless move she’s made and quite a gamble. Yet, her train of thought really sucks you into her shoes, so you feel the nerves and most of all the excitement she experiences. The text flowed nicely, and had such vivid descriptions too. Gavin’s house, built into the cliff and with its glass windows, sounded beautiful! And Libby’s response to it was actually quite funny! As for the characters themselves, well, Libby I liked instantly, with Gavin it took a little longer.Like I said before, you felt Libby’s nerves and excitement as she felt them, so the minute she meets Gavin for the first time and he remains silent and stoic, you do think “What a punk, reassure her in some way!” Of course he does begin to slowly unravel as a Master who knows what he’s doing and is able to read Libby, perhaps better than she can read herself. Or at least admit it to herself. On the other hand, little bits of his softer side occasionally shone through amongst his alpha side, but in cheeky ways and it never jeopardized the confidence of control he portrayed.Another character worthy of a mention is Libby’s mother.Though she didn’t have much ‘page/dialogue’ time, she remained a strong character that stood out by being referred to by Libby quite a lot. She was the main reason Libby fought her submissive nature and saw it as too taboo. The scene’s leading up to the ending saw her finally interacting face to face with Libby, though in an unwarranted situation which was serious, yet I couldn’t help find slightly comedic at one point. She is a woman willing to protect her daughter, by any means necessary. But she’s still the villain in how she goes about it, what she denies Libby and how she causes such a traumatic experience for her.Speaking of the ending, I really thought how it played out was great and it made me like Gavin’s character all the more. I’d love to read a full-length novel featuring these two and the rest of the residents on Gavin’s island too actually.Their chemistry was evident, but it was the bond and trust that seemed to be highlighted more, especially during the steamy sex scenes. When Libby was blindfolded amongst a room full of people about to get-it-on wink wink, she recognised Gavin’s touch, his kiss, him. Believable for the short amount of time they’ve known each other? It was yeah. The sex scenes in general were hot (see content warning for some of the things included) and described tactfully. One scene did shock me amongst the goings-on even though it wasn’t even the most taboo of things. I guess because I wasn’t expecting it. No spoiler It involved the driver whilst the duo were in the back seat together.Negative points to Maid For Pleasure? Well, I don’t have any negative points as such, just questions regarding Libby’s mental state lol. No I don’t think she’s crazy! But…What about the psychological aspect to submitting to Gavin sexually, after a year’s vanilla relationship and the fact it is her first time receiving punishment, or involved with kinks etc. She experienced sub-space for the first time after ‘playing’, but there wasn’t a sub-drop as such.Surely there should have been one of some kind, some time after play? A feeling of being overwhelmed: if not because it’s new, but because she’s found what she’s looking for? The shame or guilt or the elation? Of course not everyone may have a sub-drop, I just wondered because it was a lot for Libby’s character to take on mentally. Saying that, she did question herself throughout though…Anyway, like I said, not a negative and in no way does it detract the progress of the plot nor the interest in the characters.Quotes“If there’s one thing I know about BDSM, it’s that consent is king. The second the sub withdraws consent, the game ends.” -Libby“Being submissive isn’t something you choose. It’s like having red hair or blue eyes. No one made you this way, and no one can unmake you. You just are. Sure, you could dye your hair blond or wear brown contact lenses, but underneath, your hair would be just as red and your eyes just as blue. And you could leave this island and never have a D/s relationship in your life, but it won’t make you any less submissive, and you can be damned sure it won’t make you happy.” -Gavin“For once in my life, I’m doing what I want, not what people expect of me.” -Libby©

Maid For Pleasure by Lucy RodgersMaid for Pleasure was an enjoyable read, it was fast paced, well written and I ended up reading this book very quickly, I couldn't put it down until I knew what was going to happen to Libby. Lucy's writing is excellent, descriptions were well written and when she described the Island and the house you could picture the beautiful place in your head. I really enjoyed Lucy Rodgers writing style and will read many more of her books. Maid For Pleasure is a well written erotica/bdsm novel. Libby has just recently broken up with her boyfriend and is looking for a change, having some time off work and knows she needs a change in her hectic work life she signs up for an online dating site for submissives called Maid For It. Libby plans on staying for 2 weeks to live out her dream of totally letting go and giving control completely over to her dominant, but after two weeks she will return to her real life. We meet Gavin Huntley the dominant...and Libby must submit to this powerful man. At first he has her cleaning and she wonders what type of dominant he was.....was she ever going to get what she wanted? Enjoying her stay and the people she meets Libby cannot believe her time is almost up, wondering how she is going to walk away. Will her family and friends believe Libby is alright? See what happens next!Maid For Pleasure is a bit dark, has some suspense added in and I really enjoyed Lucy Rodgers writing, I opened this book one afternoon and didn't stop reading it till I reached the end. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Originally reviewed at: AsianCocoa's Secret Garden3.5 StarsLibby Beckett is bored with her sex life. She has just broken up with her boyfriend who couldn’t find her G spot even if he had a GPS locator. She has decided to join Maid For It an online dating site for submissive women. She’s been curious about the BDSM lifestyle for some time and has agreed to go to a private island for two weeks to live out her most decadent fantasy as a sex slave. Gavin Huntley is very clear as to what he expects from Libby and she can’t wait to submit to his every need. She develops feelings for him almost immediately and Gavin uses her intensely just as she has always fantasized about. Gavin was much less sadistic than I thought he would be. Although the collars that he makes for Libby are pretty twisted. I wasn’t sure if I liked him at first. But he did seem to genuinely care for Libby and knew that she would not be leaving the island as soon as she anticipated. I thought the element of suspense when Libby was “rescued” from the island was an interesting twist. The book wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be but I did like the story. Gavin was definitely in charge of his company as well as everyone who lived on his small Island of Kink. Libby got exactly what she expected when she landed on the island and I liked the couple’s chemistry. Maid For Pleasure was a good novella that will appeal to readers who like dubious consent and Master/slave stories.

Overall Thoughts:Reading this book was such a quick and steamy adventure!Maid for Pleasure is about a woman named Liberty Beckett who seems to have it all. She has the well-paying job as an insurance adjuster, a beautiful beach side abode, a hot BMW, and a seemingly perfect boyfriend. But all of those physical indulgences mean absolutely nothing because she's unhappy, and she doesn't know why. Then one day, she meets a man named Gavin Huntley through an online dating agency, and her entire world has turned upside down. She decides to plunge ahead for once in her life, and not think just feel; she breaks it off with her vanilla boyfriend and flies to Gavin's private island for a two-week vacation from her job and an experiment for the BDSM lifestyle...What I liked about this book:This was a purely fun book to read! It's the kind of book you reach for when you're just looking for mindless entertainment, and I mean that in a good way. It's so fast paced and engrossing that it's hard to tear your eyes away for even a split second. What I disliked about this book:I definitely wish it was longer, but I think that's apart of its charm. It's a sexy quick read!Verdict:Read it when you want a little fun in your life!

This is, like the first in the "Maid" series, rather a decent little read. I did find a few things (or rather, one thing in particular) to be confusing and out of place. This was not dark, with the exception of the gadgetry embedded in the collar- and why? There was no need for it. Libby was there of her own free will (for the most part) and had no intention of leaving- so why the collar? It was jarring, and I didn't think it fit with the rest of the story or with the personality of Gavin. He was a nice Dom, not abusive, and this was not a dark story by any means. I also felt the ending was too abrupt- I would have liked more of a resolution with her mother in particular, but also with the centre in general. This novella was in general well written with few grammatical errors (a rarity in e-books it seems!), and I would rate it as an okay quick read when in the mood for an easy read.

Also posted at book was an interesting read. It was the definitely the most extreme BDSM I have ever read. While I had a few minor problems with this book, overall I quite enjoyed it.Gavin is a sociopath. I mean, there is something seriously wrong with him. The lengths he is willing to go to keep Libby is creepy. I don't know how some people can find him sexy when in my opinion, he is the type of person who should be locked up.There was something about this book that captivated me. I did not want to put it down. This book isn't for everyone though. Not only does it contain heavy BDSM, it also has a f/f scene, and a sex scene that contains multiple partners.

I read this while I was travelling on a train and I was so bummed that when I finished it there was no more to read! The story was amazing, intriguing and sexy. I loved that Gavin owns an island and all the people who live there work for him, and I wish I had been there too!Gaving is quite charming, and although he had the same impact on me that he had on Libby, I loved that he was arousing her to the edge, to make her go crazy for him. Their connection is there and it's visible, even though you don't think there is one.A couple of shocking moments I didn't expect made me enjoy the story even more. Overall, I loved that there is a story behind all the sex, and it wasn't just meaningless porn. I look forward to read more of Lucy Rodgers' work!

After reading book one and finding it fascinating I purchased the second in the series.Focus is on the master/slave relationship again which at some points I was flabbergasted at what Gavin wanted from Libby but I couldn't put the book down!Quick very erotic read which allows you to see this dynamic which was shocking, arousing at at some points I was shouting "You can't do that, run Libby run!!" If dark erotica is your thing you will enjoy.
