Here at Reflections of a Book Addict we don’t get too many novellas. A novella is a shorter version of a novel, generally with a word count that doesn’t exceed 50 thousand words. They are a fun and different way to examine a story, and have a different feel to them that is unique. The third son of a King of a small country on the border of Switzerland, Liam Fitzwilliam Gasquet hopes that he can remain as inconspicuous as possible. With the country in turmoil due to insurgents that are attempting to usurp the throne, Liam finds himself under attack from those same insurgents. Although he had tried to remain safe, his safety is now uncertain. What he doesn’t know is that his wife of six months, Melanie, is actually also the head of his security detail. Additionally, Liam thinks that she doesn’t know he’s a Prince, but now that is all out the window as Liam and Melanie are under attack. Paradoxically as all these revelations come to light, things go dark between Liam and Melanie. What will become of Melanie and Liam? Will he be able to accept that she has known more about him than he ever knew? Will she be able to accept that Liam is far more important and layered than she originally thought? This novel gave me conflicting emotions. I definitely see the potential in it, I just felt as if I was reading an unfinished work. I’ll begin with some of the areas that I feel need improvement, and then end on the positives. To start, the way in which the characters are presented to the reader felt very abrupt and slightly confusing. The time the novel takes place in is unspecified, which does work sometimes, but with this novel it just added to the uncertainty I felt. It felt at times like a contemporary romance and historical fiction at others. It was almost like reading a sequel, where it is assumed that the reader already knows certain plot points. I did some research to see if Gloag had written about these characters before, but I unfortunately couldn’t find anything. The back story is presented in pieces as well, which contributed to the fact that the plot took a while to get going. Additionally, the ending of the work seemed sudden as well. I do understand that this is a novella, and perhaps there wasn’t enough space to add more back story (for the introduction of the characters) or more to the ending, but I believe that more time should have been spent on character development in order to better integrate the reader in to the story. With that being said, there is still a ton of potential in this story. Gloag’s ideas and general plot are quite well constructed, and the work has a good base. If parts were restructured and expanded upon to improve the flow of the novella it would become much more intriguing. Both Liam and Melanie are very likable characters who are quite interesting in their own right. I especially like Gloag’s creation of having Melanie be in charge of Liam’s security, putting an interesting gender twist on a role that is normally filled by a man who would protect the woman. All in all, with some editing work this novella could very well be a wonderful addition to anyone’s library.Kimberly (Reflections of a Book Addict)

From Now Until Forever by Sherry Gloag is a contemporary romance that blends the old school and the new. The heroine is very much a product of the here-and-now, but the plot belongs to an earlier time. It almost works. The story begins with Liam Fitzwilliam Gasquet being shot at. At first, he thinks it's just some trigger-happy idiots out in the woods, but then he comes to the reluctant conclusion that the insurgents trying to oust his father from the throne of their pocket-sized country on the Swiss border have finally found him. Liam has been travelling around the world for three years, trying to stay under the radar, and he's finally been found. Since Liam is the third son, he's been vainly hoping that his attempts to remain anonymous have been successful. It's suddenly and painfully obvious to him that they haven't.Liam is in Scotland, and has been running a riding school for disabled children with his wife, Melanie, for the last six months. He thinks that Melanie doesn't know he's a prince. He doesn't know that Melanie is the head of his security detail. She tailed him all over Europe. When he spotted her in a restaurant, the instant chemistry between them derailed both his normal "love 'em and leave 'em" nature and her duty to remain in the shadows. When the bullets start flying and they have to escape their formerly secure home, the life they have built together falls apart. When the lies come crashing down, the walls come up between them. But can they find a way to be together, when everything they thought they had was built on deceit? And will they live long enough to find out?Escape Rating C+: I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the characters. Melanie and Liam are both interesting people. Mel raised herself up from nothing to be a security officer, and she's good at her job. Even when she marries Liam, she never stops being his security chief, he just doesn't know it. Liam isn't a spoiled prince, he's trying to be his own man, he just doesn't go about it very well. But neither do a lot of people. I had difficulty with the whole "secret prince of the tiny country" thing. That plot device seemed both too formulaic and unrealistic to me. It tripped my "willing suspension of disbelief" alarm, and that alarm kept ringing. Those are very few of those teeny, tiny countries left these days. Also, Liam trying to live anonymously in 21st century Europe is just not possible anymore, unless one seriously wants to live off the grid. And Liam clearly likes his horses and his plesaures. He couldn't have expected to be anonymous.I liked the characters, but the plot was thin, or not contemporary. I've seen this plot used in space opera, and it definitely works in that context. But not here and now, not anymore. Or just not for this reviewer.

Originally posted at: http://www.longandshortreviews.blogsp...From Now Until Forever sports a warm, slightly simple cover and in this case: what you see couldn't be further from what you get.You see, Liam is a prince and Melanie is not his wife nor girlfriend, but his protector. Violence erupts at the outset, and I understood immediately that he needed protection, and appreciated Melanie for her abilities as well. More slowly, I come to understand the dangers Liam lives with and to some degree at least, chose.Their relationship at first seems both difficult and occasionally adversarial, yet, underneath each of their efforts to maintain a 'pretend' relationship, a real one is developing. Sadly; they're both in danger. Neither has been completely honest with the other. This hardly seems a great place for a more meaningful relationship to start. The suspense and complexity build throughout the story. Attention to detail is plainly important to the author - and so also, the reader. Speaking of details: this reader loved the backdrop, the perfectly-described action, and most especially the chase scenes! They are always exciting but somehow also fun.Fast, unpredictable and yet featuring all the best of a genuine romance: D

Ms. Gloag knows how to pack a punch. This sweet romance will keep you on your the edge of your seat. A romance filled with action and adventure while trying to stay alive. Be sure to pay attention so you don't miss a single detail. I was intrigued by the characters and the plot. Is Liam and Melanie's marriage based on lies or is it based on love? You will have to read it to find out. Great work Ms. Gloag. I will be look for more from you. This story is clean but does have some mild violence and some kissing!

This book is a cute little love-drama-action story. It has a wonderful and innovative premise at its base. The characters are well developed, the story is interesting and the book makes for a nice short read.I love myself some kick-ass female character and it has one of those as its main one. :)Pick this up if you are looking for a quick romantic-action read.I wished it was longer and it had more of action though.

This was just a quick little afternoon book to read. I wanted something to read that was short and to the point, without a lot of unnecessary details cluttering up the story. And this book hit the spot for me today. I really enjoyed it. It was what I like to refer to as a Cinderella story with a twist. I know this would not be a book everyone would enjoy, but since I did I awarded it 4****

I loved this story. It has action, adventure, romance, and intrigue. I fell in love with the characters and cheered them on as Liam and Melanie fought for their happily-ever-after. The contrast between the simple farm where they met and the castle were vividly described. Great book!

From Now Until Forever is a love story, but so much more. Princes, car chases, horses and protection. Things aren't what they seem between the hero and heroine, even to each other. The story goes quickly. I finished it in no time, wanting to know what happened next.

"Is This A Marriage Made In Heaven?"I was making comparisons about the slightly rebellious, fictional characters in this book and the real-life characters which they might so easily depict, from just reading the synposis and without evening turning the first page.I was worried that a book of some notional 90 pages, might well be insufficient to do the story justice. However, by the end of the book, I was pleasingly assured that Sherry had got this one just about spot on for length and content detail. She has ably managed to maintain the fine balance of an eye-catching beginning, a strong central storyline and an ending, which although could be construed as slightly inconclusive, had done its job of getting the message across to the reader, in an accomplished and polished piece of writing. If I were to highlight the one weak point in the storyline, then it would be the issue I would have with Liam never recognising Melanie when they met, even though she had been shadowing him for three years as his bodyguard. If she were that stunning, surely he would have noticed her and that she seemed to appear everywhere that he did?The romance and marriage between Liam and Melanie wouldn't at first glance appear to be a `match made in heaven' and begged the question, was this a marriage based on lies or love? It was certainly a relationship which thrived on action and adventure, as the plot move along at a breakneck pace, complete with its unexpected twists and turns along the way, together with plenty of tension and an ongoing battle of wills between the young couple. The characters developed and grew in strength and as the story progressed, with a new found maturity and mutual support underpinning their relationship. They were both made painfully aware of all they had to lose, including each other, causing an inner resolve and determination to rise to the surface. The couple faced Liam's parents united, each sure in the knowledge that they were resolved to continue with their marriage, after it had survived the tissue of lies on which it had at first been based and the tumultuous hardships it had endured along the way.I also should comment on the changing attitudes of Liam's parents and the influence that the young couple brought to bear in this transformation. True, they had never closed the door on Liam, even when he decided, perhaps with little thought about how his actions might affect the stability and even safety of his family, that he didn't want to conform to the conventions of his position. Their open-mindedness to change would have been an enormous step forward for them and one they would have had to embrace with some caution and forethought. The sheer fact that they were prepared to accept change to save their relationship with their son, tells me just how much family values meant to them. There seems to be two messages which feature strongly in this story. There is the specific message that Royalty or Titled families are, by definition and tradition, subject to a more public scrutiny of both their public and private lives, although the younger, modern generation are rebelling against this austere regime, forcing change within the traditionalist hierarchy of the family. Then there is the more generic message that, no matter what a child does, or where they go, the door never truly closes behind them and that when `the chips are down', they are still your son or daughter and will never be completly lost to you, or disowned by you and you will probably always defend them with your last breath, in an effort to see them enjoying a happy and fulfilled life.

Assassinations, dangerous safe houses and royalty abound in From Now Until Forever! The fast paced story will leave you breathless while the romance takes your heart away! Liam Fitzwilliam Gasquet is a royal prince but horses are his passion. After meeting a woman one day, he finds that there is more to life than breeding horses. He learns that horses can be used to help children who have been emotionally damaged or children with special needs. He falls in love with Melanie who runs the program and believes their hidden life is set until he is targeted for assassination by his Uncle who wants to rule.Melanie is a woman who is more than who she appears. While she also loves horses, she is also a skilled military guard and could probably kill you with tweezers. She is forced to take off the mask of wife and teacher when Liam is threatened and she must protect him. From Now Until Forever is a wonderful romantic story about what is “True Love” or “Real Love”. Bot h of the characters are hiding things from each other at the beginning of their marriage even though they never lie about their love. When Liam learns more about who Melanie is, he is frightened that she never really loved him at all.I thoroughly enjoyed the mix between romance and espionage in From Now Until Forever. It kept me on the edge of my seat. But my favorite part was when Liam learned the truth about how his parents had let him go to protect him and sent Melanie because she was someone they trusted and valued. Liam grew up more in those moments and I found myself wishing that all children would go through that where they saw that what their parents did to set rules, was done in ways to help them grow. From Now Until Forever is a story worth reading over and over again!

SNS Rating: 4.66~~~~~~~~~~Amanda's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~Another great read by Sherry Gloag. Right at the start of this book you will get hooked. It starts off in suspense and you will have no trouble keeping up. It is a pretty fast paced read that will keep your attention throughout. This is an action packed romance that will not disappoint. You are not left wondering if you're missing anything or why something has happened. You will laugh on and off, and you will be kept with wanting more. A great read that I couldn't put down.~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~Exciting story of the adventures of Liam, the Prince incognito and Melanie, the hidden bodyguard. Each held their own secrets but deeply loved one another. When danger threatened his life, Melanie sprang out of the shadows to protect him and caused Liam to see her in a different light and to question her declarations of love. The captivity and rescue was exciting and breathtaking. Watching the wounded hearts find resolution and love made for a joyful reading experience. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.~~~~~~~~~~Patricia's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~This book was about Liam and Melanie. Liam is a Prince in hiding. Melanie was hired to protect Liam and was told to do it with whatever means necessary. So Melanie ends up marrying him but little does he know she was doing it to protect him. The story starts out with a gunfight because they have found out where Liam is. Will these two find away to make life together or will it all blow up in their faces from all the deceit that has been going on? This was a short cute little story.

3.5 stars---I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.---I gave it 3 stars. Don't get me wrong! I liked the book. It's more like 3.5 stars actually. That means I liked it but didn't love it.What first got my attention was, obviously, the beautiful cover. Then after reading the synopsis I thought it would be a wonderful read. Among all this paranormal romance that I often read, I needed a change. The plot is interesting and I wasn't expecting to have such entertaining adventure. :)The story is beautifully written and is packed of action, but the romance... for me it was poorly developed. Not badly, I just believe It laid on the surface. With "From now until forever" as title, I was expecting a "heart stopping- mind blowing-nerve racking-love story, and what I found instead was a cute short story. Nice and sweet but lacking depth, especially in the characters and the romance.I wanted to fall in love with Liam and feel their hurt when they were separated and their hapinness when they were together... but I didn't :(Anyway, as the style was appealing, I'll be surely reading another story of this author.

From Now Until Forever by Sherry Gloag starts out with a bang. We are thrust immediately into the middle of a gun-fight/ stake out at a horse ranch where the main character, Liam Fitzwilliam Gasquet, has been caught in the cross fire. Liam, who is actually the crown prince of a small, independent European country, has been living under an alias for several years in an effort to escape the demands of his royal heritage. During that time he met and married Melanie, owner of the ranch. Little did he know that Melanie was actually in the employ of his own government’s secret service, hired as a personal bodyguard to keep him safe. When the truth comes out, both feel betrayed. But immediate danger continues as insurgents are determined to kill Liam. Will they survive and will their love for one another be enough once the dust has settled? It reminded me of the movie 'Mr and Mrs smith' in that they lead double lives... There is lots of action and intrigue in this one so hang on for the ride.
